Types of aircraft pilot course

Ventum Air offers a complete development pathway through an aircraft pilot course – from your first steps in aviation to advanced commercial and instructor qualifications. The aircraft flight training programme is divided into three main categories suited to students with different goals and levels of experience.

  1. Foundation courses – the first aircraft flying course consists of three 45-minute modules: an introductory lecture, simulator training and a flight with an instructor in a PS-28 Cruiser. The LAPL(A) course includes at least 30 hours of flight training, with a ground school module shared with PPL(A)/LAPL(A). The PPL(A) course requires at least 45 hours of flight training and provides broader operating privileges.
  2. Advanced programmes – the 0-ATPL(A) programme is intended for aspiring commercial pilots, and the aircraft flying course then includes:
    • ATPL(A) ground school,
    • CPL(A) flight training,
    • IR(A) with the BIFM module and FNPT II simulator training,
    • MEP(L) training on multi-engine aircraft,
    • Night VFR and pilot-in-command hour building (PIC time building).
  3. Additional training – FI(A) instructor courses are available with a complete flight training programme and instructor placement, alongside training on ALSIM AL250 and FNPT II Full Motion Redbird simulators. Familiarisation with Garmin G1000 glass cockpit systems is also available. BIR(A), the ‘small IFR’ for PPL(A) licence holders, includes practical training of 30 h on a simulator and at least 10 h in the Bristell B23-915 IFR, with ground school at partner schools.

Aircraft pilot courses – frequently asked questions

What requirements must I meet to begin an aircraft flying course?

To enrol on a foundation aircraft flying course (for example, PPL(A)), you must be at least 16 years old on the date of your first solo flight and hold at least a Class 2 aviation medical certificate (or a LAPL medical certificate for a recreational licence). These examinations are standard procedure and assess the candidate's general health.

How long do professional pilot courses at VENTUM AIR take?

Ground school lasts 6 weeks and is delivered by e-learning, beginning on the first Monday of each month. It concludes with a three-day classroom session and an examination. The duration of flight training depends on the season and weather and usually ranges from one month to several months.

Can anyone enrol on a pilot course, and is previous experience required?

Yes. Our pilot course at foundation level is designed to guide you through the entire process from the very beginning. You need no previous aviation experience or technical knowledge: our certified instructors will teach you everything from theory to practical navigation in cloud.

How much does a licence cost, and how do payments for an aircraft course work? Pricing and finance

This is one of the questions we receive most often. If you are interested in a particular aircraft course, the price is always discussed transparently during an information meeting. At Ventum Air we offer flexible payment options. You can pay for individual modules and flying hours in stages throughout your training, allowing you to spread the overall investment over time.
