FI(A) course: an important step in an airline pilot career
For most pilots, gaining an FI(A) instructor rating is a milestone that opens the door to paid work, including within our ATO. By choosing an FI course at Ventum Air, you can build valuable flight time while developing the teaching skills valued in aviation. This rating also allows a shorter route to instructor training on larger aircraft types in future. Many of our instructors now fly airliners. A professional FI course is a proven way to follow them.
FI(A) course programme and benefits at VENTUM AIR
Our FI training consists of ground school and flight training on PS-28 Cruiser aircraft. On our course, you complete 30 flight hours and a 1.5h assessment flight in accordance with FCL requirements. We also offer a paid instructor placement that includes 4 hours of training on a modern ALSIM AL250 simulator. Graduates are therefore prepared to work with students using advanced FNPT II equipment.

IRI(A) course: instrument rating instructor
Become an IRI(A) instructor and train advanced IFR pilots at VENTUM AIR
Do you want to share your knowledge and passion with pilots who want to fly safely in all conditions?
Our IRI(A) (Instrument Rating Instructor) course prepares you to teach instrument flight.
The programme develops your technical and teaching skills so that you can train future pilots in command.
Entry requirements
Before joining approved IRI(A) training, you must meet the requirements set by EASA rules. The route depends on whether you already hold an FI(A) instructor rating:
Pilots without an FI(A) rating
- IFR flight time: at least 800 hours under instrument flight rules, including at least 400 hours in aeroplanes.
- Class rating, where applicable: a CRI/ME rating is required if training will take place on the MEP(L) class.
Pilots who already hold an FI(A) rating
- IFR flight time: at least 200 hours under instrument flight rules, of which no more than 50 hours may be completed in a flight simulator or FNPT II device.
- Class rating, where applicable: an FI/ME rating is required if training takes place on the MEP(L) class.

For SEP(L) training: a valid SEP(L) licence/rating and IR/SE.
For MEP(L) training: a valid MEP(L) licence/rating, IR/ME and either CRI/ME (for non-FI pilots) or FI/ME (for FI pilots). -
