Flight training

EIR(A)

En-route Instrument Rating EIR(A).

En-route Instrument Rating EIR(A).

The rating can improve safety, particularly for PPL(A) holders who intend to fly under IFR only during the en-route phase. You can depart under VFR when the aerodrome meets VFR minima, transition to IFR flight by reference to instruments, cross an area of adverse weather and return to visual flight before landing under VFR. The rating is especially useful for pilots making long cross-country flights, such as holiday trips.

Entry requirements for EIR(A) training:

1) Starting ground school:

2) At least a PPL(A) aeroplane pilot licence.

Ground school comprises 80 hours: 66h of distance learning (e-learning) and 14h of classroom training at Ventum Air ATO over 2 weekend days.

Access to the Jeppesen books is required for the EIR ground school.

Required books:

  1. Jeppesen EASA ATPL Training Air Law and Communication
  2. Jeppesen EASA ATPL Training Instrumentation
  3. Jeppesen EASA ATPL Training Flight Planning and Flight Monitoring
  4. Jeppesen EASA ATPL Training Human Performance
  5. Jeppesen EASA ATPL Training Meteorology
  6. Jeppesen EASA ATPL Training Radio Navigation

To make study easier, the platform materials refer to specific topics in the books above and identify the relevant page.
