To begin training towards an airline pilot licence (ATPL), you must hold a valid Class 1 aviation medical certificate, be at least 18 years old and have the required flight experience and a PPL(A) as the basis for further modules. The complete route includes ground school and a series of flight training courses.

  1. How much does airline pilot training cost?

If you are interested in airline pilot training, the total price depends on whether you choose a modular or integrated route. 1. Does an airline pilot licence allow me to fly a Boeing or Airbus immediately?

Yes, a so-called “frozen” airline pilot licence (ATPL Frozen) allows you to take up a first officer position with an airline. Before joining a scheduled airline, however, you must complete additional training for a specific aircraft type, known as a Type Rating, for example on the B737 or A320.
