European FCL aviation rules allow ATOs to combine training stages or apply credits and simplifications, making the programme more efficient and avoiding duplication. The MEP(L)+IR(A)+CPL(A) programme starts with the MEP(L) multi-engine rating: 6 hours of flight training on a Tecnam P2006T. This stage ends with an official skill test of approximately 1.5 hours with an examiner in a Tecnam P2006T. After gaining MEP(L), the student completes the BIFM module, part of IR(A) training: 5 hours in an FNPT II simulator and 5 hours of flight training on a PS-28 Cruiser.
The student then trains for CPL(A) and IR(A) in parallel. CPL(A) includes 5 hours of flight training on a Tecnam P2006T and 10 hours on a PS-28 Cruiser. IR(A) includes 30 hours in an FNPT II simulator and 15 hours of IR(A) flight training on a Tecnam P2006T.
To begin MEP(L)+IR(A)+CPL(A) flight training at our school, you must hold a PPL(A) with a Night VFR rating, also available from our ATO ( HERE), have completed ATPL(A) ground school, also available from our ATO, hold an appropriate aero-medical certificate, and have 70 hours of PIC flight time, including 50 cross-country hours. At the end of training, a pilot applying for a CPL(A) with SEP(L), MEP(L) and IR/SE,ME ratings must have 200 total hours, including 100 as pilot in command, at least 50 as PIC XC, and a 300 NM cross-country flight with landings at two aerodromes other than the departure aerodrome. You can build any missing hours at our ATO; see our fleet HERE.
Pilots beginning flight training without previous experience of Garmin G1000 glass-cockpit avionics must first complete familiarisation training. More information about the familiarisation course is available. Key benefits of MEP(L)+IR(A)+CPL(A) flight training at our school include:
– frequent flying, which is important for effective training; – significantly lower overall training costs; – the opportunity to become thoroughly familiar with one aircraft type; – valuable multi-engine flight time on a glass-cockpit aircraft; – no need for additional IR training through an IR/ME conversion; – the option to combine the IR(A) and CPL(A) skill tests; – experienced instructors available to support you
Training includes 26 flight hours on a Tecnam P2006T, 15 flight hours on a PS-28 Cruiser, 35 hours in an FNPT II simulator and MEP(L) ground school. Civil Aviation Examination Board tests, approximately 5.5 hours, are not included in the programme.
